What are the benefits of Acupuncture?
My style of Acupuncture focuses on the specific needs of athletes, active individuals, and sedentary individuals in pain. It can provide a variety of benefits including improving performance, reducing pain and inflammation, and promoting faster recovery after injuries or intense physical activity. Acupuncture can also help to enhance circulation, which can improve muscle and joint function, reduce stiffness and soreness, and increase the overall flexibility of the body. Additionally, it can help to stimulate the release of natural pain-relieving chemicals in the body such as endorphins, which can provide long-lasting pain relief. Acupuncture can also help to improve mental focus, reduce stress and anxiety, and enhance a person's overall sense of well-being.
What should I expect?
All initial treatments are 1.5 hours. This gives us time to chat and get clear on your goals as well as you getting your first treatment. Follow-up treatments will include touching base on how things have changed since we last saw each other, followed by your treatment. Depending on the type of appointment you book, treatments may include Acupuncture, massage, cupping, guasha, electric stimulation, and herbal medicine recommendations, depending on each individual's needs. Expect to feel relaxed and a bit zoned out after treatments. When working with sports injuries or pain, I expect patients to feel sore for the first 24 ish hours after treatment.
What should I wear?
Honestly, whatever. Loose fitting clothes are typically best, but if you are coming to your appointment from the gym or the office, I will have sheets available for draping to keep you covered so that we can access the areas we need.
How do I prepare for my treatment?
Ideally patients will have had something to eat within an hour or so before their treatment. Caffeine before treatments is not recommended, but also, won’t kill you. Be prepared to log off and drop out while you are here. I encourage phones off during treatments (unless you need it for some reason, of course).
